Abstract
Stent-like structures were manufactured of 316L stainless steel powder using Selective Laser Micro Melting (SLμM). Appropriate laser parameters were found to produce samples with high reproducibility, high spatial resolution of 60 μm and reasonable mechanical properties such as acceptable radial strength and elastic recoil, comparable to characteristic values from literature for conventional stents. Optical investigations showed a part density of > 99 \% after the manufacturing process and high surface quality after chemical polishing. SLμM technology offers a high potential for economical production of individual vascular implants with complex shapes.
