Abstract
Virtual materials gain in importance for the analyses of coating processes. This novel development mirrors the trend to the application of computerization of complex physical problems. These materials are produced in virtual coaters which includes the properties of real coating machines. On the basis of a multiple scale model the structural, electronic and optical properties are discussed for different virtual oxides and the results are linked to measured values from the real coating machines.
