Abstract
In this paper several laser-based approaches for the generation of customized nanoparticles are stud-ied. Lasers with different pulse durations, target materials in solid and in powder state, various gaseous and liquid processing media are applied. The particular methods for the generation of nanoparticles discussed below are: femtosecond laser ablation in gaseous atmosphere and in liquids, and laser-breaking of microparticles using excimer laser pulses.
