Under the motto “Carbon & Mobility”, the CFK-Valley Stade Convention is held in Stade, Germany, from 15 to 16 June 2016. At this forum for lightweight construction, the composite experts from the LZH are again presenting innovative solutions for the laser-based processing of reinforced and unreinforced polymer materials and semi-finished parts.

For an optimum processing of these lightweight materials, the Composites Group of the Production and Systems Department at the LZH is working on customizing and optimizing various processes using the laser. Currently, their focus is on the following applications:

  • Laser beam cutting using continuous wave and pulsed laser systems
  • Surface treatment
  • Repairs using laser ablation and joining
  • Laser beam welding of thermoplastic composite structures
  • Development of customized process monitoring and control systems

With various exhibits, the specialists from LZH showcase the potential of diverse laser-based processes:

The LZH is testing and optimizing these processes for various composites, such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP), construction and high-performance thermoplastics as well as tissues, fiber rovings, preforms and prepregs.

Visit us at stand B5 in the STADEUM in Stade and learn more about CFRP technologies by the LZH!
