Optical Components

We showcase a stand for custom characterization of optical components. By measuring the laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT), we precisely determine the load capacity of optics up to 300 mm in diameter. With these insights we develop new high-load optical components for use in high-power lasers, such as those developed for fusion research.

In the area of laser material processing, we present innovative processes in the hydrogen production value chain. For example for efficient electrolysis and hydrogen combustion. We also demonstrate advanced laser beam welding processes for thick, dissimilar materials, which are particularly applicable in shipbuilding. We also showcase different laser microstructuring techniques to enable precise modification and functionalization of materials and thin films.
