Objectives:
Current economic world conditions in many countries both within and outside the European Union are forcing the operation of aircrafts well beyond their original design life, the cost for replacing older aircraft becomes disproportional to the capability for long-term investment of most airlines. There is an increasing need for innovative repair solutions, both for metallic and for composite structures, to restore their structural integrity or to reinforce areas prone to damage. These repair solutions could reduce operating costs by providing easy and low cost repair procedures, extending significantly their economical life while also guaranteeing their airworthiness and the corresponding safety of flight.
During the last ten years, the European Union has funded an important number of research projects aiming to satisfy a growing need for innovative repair solutions. The AeroPlan Project aims to appropriately disseminate to all the levels of the aeronautical industry the foreground knowledge generated within EU funded research projects, focusing on real life applications.

Consortium:
A consortium of key partners, who have participated in a number of research projects have been assembled to deliver the prime objective of the project; to disseminate the technological innovations from ten selected EU funded projects. The project consortium consists of:

  • TWI Ltd.
  • NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS
  • LASER ZENTRUM HANNOVER E.V.
  • FUNDACION TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION
  • GMI Aero SAS
  • INASCO, Integrated Aerospace Sciences Corporation
  • EADS, DEUTSCHLAND GMBH
