The LZH will offer online training on "Laser structuring of metal surfaces" on 14 December 2021, as part of the PhotonHub. The Machines and Controls Group scientists will use example applications to explain what needs to be considered in laser-based surface structuring. The process can be used, for example, as a joining preparation for metallic surfaces before coating by thermal spraying or bonding with textiles. The fundamentals and properties of various laser beam sources are also explained and questions relating to laser safety and the required system and equipment technology. 

The hub is intended to particularly support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) working with photonics technologies in digital business fields. Further training opportunities and networking with other companies and investors shall strengthen the competitiveness of the companies. In the future, the LZH will offer further training and work on bilateral projects in which SMEs can get in touch with multipliers and research institutions to establish photonic technologies in the European economy.
