The Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) is one of the leading institutions in the field of applied laser research. With about 250 employees, basic research, applied research and industrial developments are realized. The Optics Integration Group of the Optical Components Department is looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible:
Scientific employee (m/f/d)
Physics, optical technologies or comparable (Master) with a focus on optics integration and telecommunications
The Optics Integration Group develops concepts and processes to transfer complex optical functions into miniaturized optical systems and equip additively manufactured systems. New approaches for optical packaging and interconnection technology play an essential role here. With the existing approaches, the group combines fundamental research with concrete applications. The current position is concerned with carrier-free optical filter layers intended to replace complex multiplexed units in a highly integrated approach. The group's network ranges from a direct connection to a cluster of excellence to prototype development with a direct target market. In this environment, there is a rare broad development opportunity for the employees and the technologies involved.
Focus areas of your work are:
-
Calculation and manufacturing simulation of complex multiplex thin-film filters
-
Development of strategies for the application of the filters in a wide temperature range
-
Process analysis and development of stabilization strategies in the IBS coating process (Ion Beam Sputtering)
-
Publications and presentation of experimental results
-
Supervision and guidance of scientific assistants and students
Environment:
The work in the research group at LZH offers you an excellent environment and the best conditions for a PhD. We offer:
- An interdisciplinary and international team
- An excellent network of industry and research partners
- Targeted training and promotion of personal and technical skills
Recruiting requirements:
-
A university degree (Master) with above-average academic performance in the field of physics, photonics, and optics, or equivalent
-
Experience in the field of laboratory measurement technology and/or vacuum technology
-
Ability to work independently
-
Creativity, commitment, and target-orientated mindset
-
Excellent English language skills are mandatory
-
Experience in numerical simulation, as well as programming skills in Labview or Python, are an advantage
Temporary employment according to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Temporary Scientific Contracts) and remuneration based on the collective agreement for the public service of the German states (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder) up to TV-L ¾ E13 depending on qualifications and activities. The candidate can obtain a PhD.
Severely disabled persons are given preference in case of equal suitability.
