The Board of Directors of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. appointed Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roland Lachmeyer as a new member of the Scientific Board. The director of the Institut für Produktentwicklung und Gerätebau (IPeG) at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover shall assume this position for a term of five years. He supports the strategic research areas of the LZH in the fields of lighting technology and design theory for 3D printing in particular.

Prof. Lachmeyer received his PhD in 1996 at the Technische Universität Braunschweig in the mechanical engineering department. After working for Hella KGaA and AEG Power Solutions AG in the fields of innovation management and technical development, he obtained a university professorship at the IPeG. His main research areas are optomechatronics, computer-assisted product development and development methodology.

With his appointment, there are now six professors from three universities in Lower Saxony on the Scientific Board. This committee advises the Board of Directors in scientific and technical issues in the field of research and development, and is involved in the development of the scientific-strategic orientation of the LZH.

„I look forward to contributing new focus topics to the Scientific Directorate. One priority will be the overall-strategic orientation of the various 3D printing projects in different research and devel-opment departments”, emphasizes Lachmeyer.
