Abstract
In summary, we discussed a hybrid mode-locking scheme in similariton fiber lasers based on a saturable Bragg reflector and nonlinear polarization evolution. Beside an enhanced self-starting capability, this scheme allows additional pulse shaping as well as the suppression of undesired modes of operation.
