Abstract
In this paper aluminum-textile-hybrid structures have been created without the use of additional adhesives. In order to keep a sufficient bonding strength the aluminum surface was textured using either a direct current GTAW-process with a positive polarity electrode (GTAW-DC-EP) or a laser process. Furthermore, the textiles used are nonwovens, made of a proportion fusible fibers (PES) and acoustically effective fibers. The nonwovens are specifically developed to provide sufficient fusible fibers in the bonding region. The created hybrid structures may be used in automotive application as noise dampening lightweight structures or generally in lightweight structures.
