MOONRISE: Bringing 3D printing to the moon

Building moon villages from lunar dust? Scientists of LZH and Institut für Raumfahrtsysteme (IRAS) of Technischen Universität Braunschweig want to bring 3D-printing on the moon within the project MOONRISE. Goal of the project is to be able to use moon dust as building material. The first experiments at the Einstein-Elevator of the HITec were successful: The scientists were able to melt regolith under lunar conditions to spheres for the very first time.
