The LZH offers consulting, feasibility studies and process development for the laser structuring of thin films. With this process, surfaces can be equipped with strain sensors for example. Thin-film sensor technology is a field of application for this technology.


Within the course of industry 4.0 and big data, there is an increasing demand for equipping surfaces with sensors. Thin films applied using laser structuring make it possible to manufacture particularly robust surface sensors. This technique is suitable  for curved surfaces, too.

The Laser Micromachining Group evaluates the general feasibility of thin-film structuring applications, and offers support for the following issues and tasks:
