Laser welding and soldering of metals

The LZH offers feasibility studies for laser welding and soldering of metals. Besides the process development, the generated joints can be evaluated.


According to customer-specific requirements, the LZH develops and optimizes processes for laser welding and soldering of metals. For these purposes, the LZH has pulsed and continuous wave lasers with an output power of up to 16 kW.

The joints made using these processes can be analyzed using metallographic methods, if necessary. Light and SEM microscopes are available. Also, micro-hardness measurements and element analyses can be carried out. The mechanical properties of the joint can be examined using tensile, pressure and fatigue tests.

Also, the group “Joining and Cutting of Metals”  offers consulting services for processes and materials.
