Pulsed laser micro-welding

Laser GMA hybrid welding of metals



The group “Joining and Cutting of Metals”  carries out feasibility studies for hybrid welding processes. According to customer requirements, the scientists develop and optimize processes for joining thick sheets, for example for pipelines or liquid gas tanks.

Laser-assisted GMAW (MAG/MIG/TIG)


Laserstabilisation durch 320W

During laser-guided and stabilized arc welding, the working point of the arc is stabilized by the laser beam. Hence, the welding seams are both robust and of high quality, even at high welding speeds. The arc can be guided precisely and flexibly by the laser beam.

Process monitoring and documentation

The LZH develops individual strategies for monitoring laser processes. Together with the customers, these strategies are transferred into technical systems and tested in industrial environments. Furthermore, the LZH offers consulting for process optimization.
