Laser-based forming of glass components minimizes the residual tensions in the glass. The laser-based process can be largely automated.

During laser-based forming, the temperature in the forming zone is temporally defined. The glass is formed in a low viscosity stage and cooled down in defined intervals. This minimizes the remaining tensions in the glass. By means of a control system with contactless temperature measurement, the temperature can be controlled.

The forming process is carried out by drawing or compressing under heat. Glass tubes can also be formed using compressed air.
