Emission characterization for laser material processing

The group „Safety Technology“ carries out emission characterizations for laser material processing according to the German Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft) and relevant regulations of the Association of German Engineers (VDI).


For the given process, the released gaseous and particulate hazardous substances are measured in the exhaust air. Afterwards, the measurement results are compared to the limit values that are defined in the German Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft).

The used sampling and analysis techniques comply with current regulations. Optionally, the emission characterization can be complemented by a filter efficiency test. With this additional test, the measurement of hazardous substances in the clean air, which has passed through the exhaust air filter systems already, is repeated. In special cases, the laser material processing setup can be replicated at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH).
