Modelling the influence of the third energy level in gain dynamics of fiber amplifiers

Abstract

We report an analytical model to describe the gain dynamics of 3-level system fiber amplifiers and its experimental validation by fitting it to the pump-power-to-ouput-power transfer functions and studying the induced phase-shift in an EDFA. The results show good agreement with the common values in the literature.
