The Fiber Optics Group of the Laser Development Department is looking for a Engineer / physicist (m/w/d) (Bachelor).

Faserbasierter Signalkombinierer

The Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) is one of the leading institutions in the field of applied laser research. With about 250 employees, basic research, applied research and industrial developments are realized. The Fiber Optics Group of the Laser Development Department is looking for a

Engineer / physicist (m/w/d) (Bachelor)

Novel high-power laser beam sources are used in various fields such as optical communications, LIDAR, or interferometric gravitational wave detection. In addition to the well-established solid-state architectures, fiber lasers are being used more and more frequently. The basis for the low-maintenance, high-performance operation of these fiber lasers is fiber-optic components that couple laser radiation into or out of optical fibers. Very high demands are placed on the low-loss operation of the fiber optics to realize high-power laser beam sources. Your field of activity includes the set-up, commissioning, and support of plant technology to produce fiber optic components. You will work closely in a team with engineers and scientists from various disciplines.

Focus areas of your work are:

  • Support in the planning, design, and construction of plant technology
  • Support, maintenance, and procurement of equipment for the laboratory
  • Manufacturing of fiber optic components
  • You are responsible for the manufacturing equipment

LZH offers you a unique environment and the best conditions:

  • An interdisciplinary team consisting of optical and mechanical engineers and physicists
  • National and international project partners from the photonics industry
  • Targeted training to promote your individual strengths and develop core competencies

Recruiting requirements:

  • A completed apprenticeship as a physical-technical assistant, mechatronics engineer, technician (f/m/d), or a completed bachelor's degree in physics, mechanical engineering or mechatronics or equivalent
  • Very good technical understanding
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the areas of measurement technology, mechanics, electrical engineering, and operating technology
  • Knowledge from the fields of optics is an advantage
  • Knowledge of CAD and PLC programming is desirable
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Structured, responsible, and goal-oriented work with the ability to contribute independently and productively to the team
  • Conscientiousness in handling sensitive components

Temporary employment according to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Scientific Temporary Contracts) and remuneration based on TV-L (depending on qualifications up to TV-L E09).

Severely disabled persons are given preference in case of equal suitability.

The LZH attaches great importance to professional gender equality.
