The Optics Integration group deals with production technologies to integrate optical functions into complex optical components and systems. The focus is on thin-film technologies such as ion beam sputtering (IBS) or atomic layer deposition (ALD) processes. The optical functional layers produced by these processes are integrated into optical systems to open up new fields of application.

These novel approaches are based, for example, on substrate-free manufacturing or the coating of complex-shaped additively manufactured components. New system concepts and processes enable sufficient efficiency for mass production for the first time. By generating measurement data in parallel before, during, and after manufacturing, the group aims to create virtual models to predict system behavior and optimize performance.
