Optical coatings

Optical functional coatings are essential for laser and metrology systems. The Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) helps you choose both the optimum coating design and materials as well as the deposition processes for your application.

 

Different sophisticated coating technologies are available at the LZH for the manufacturing of optical coatings:

  • Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS)
  • Ion Assisted Deposition (IAD)
  • Evaporation techniques
  • DC Sputtering

State-of-the-art online monitoring processes guarantee the quality of the coatings. Among others, optical broadband monitoring (LZH-BBM), in-situ plasma analysis, in-situ stress measurements and in-situ defect analyses are used for this purpose.

The group „Coatings“ manufactures discrete multi-layer systems, mixed materials with an individually configured refraction index, Rugate filters and gradient coatings. The multi-layer designs are developed with powerful algorithms and software tools.
