Photovoltaics
Work of the group focusses on:
- Modification of optical and electrical characteristics of materials for solar cells and sensors using laser-induced modification, melting or ablation
- Patterning (P1-P3) of organic thin-film solar cells and CI(G)S
- Edge isolation of mc-Si solar cells using ultra-short pulse ablation
Current scientific work and projects:
- GOAL 1 „New, innovative approaches for laser-based edge isolation with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing costs“ (BMU)
- Goal: Use of picosecond laser sources for quick edge isolation of crystalline solar cells
- PPP „Development of an industrial processing and production technology for polymer solar cells “ (BMBF)
- Goal: Inexpensive production of polymer solar cells using a configurable roll-to-roll facility
- LaserLining „Laser structuring process and alternative thin-film combination of CI(G)S solar modules“ (AiF)
- Goal: Development of an efficient production process for serial monolithic circuit connection of CIGS solar modules
