Current Projects and Activities

German-Chinese training and further education initiative in applied laser technology

In order to support the use of modern laser technology in China, special training and further education facilities have been set up, in which German-Chinese joint ventures offer the possibility for qualifying skilled workers in China. Two laser training centers in Changchun and Shanghai are being set up, in cooperation with local universities and German industries.

Network of Russian-German laser centers in the Southern Ural Region, Kaluga and Southern Russia

The goal of this project is to create optimum conditions for the use of laser technology in Russia's innovative regions. For this purpose, laser innovation technology centers are being established in Jekaterinburg, Obninsk and Taganrog, in cooperation with regional enterprises and German companies, and with the support of several universities.

With the opening ceremonies of the centers in Taganrog (Southern Russia) and Obninsk (Kaluga Region) on the 17th, respectively the 28th of September 2010), all the "Network of Russian-German Laser Centers" have now officially started their work.

Centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg also belong to this network, which presented their activities and services from April 19th-22nd, at the Photonics - World of Lasers and Optics exhibition in Moscow.

Foundation of a German-Russian institute for surface technology

The goal of this project is to set up a joint research and development institution for surface technology and nano-technology, together with the LZH and the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Effective organizational structures, a sustainable technology transfer and a financing concept as well as training and education structures for innovation transfer, and supporting young talent will be developed through this project.
